Basic Template Website Training

Drupal is the website content management system for CFAES. Our CFAES websites and a variety of other college websites are now based in Drupal. This training is designed for content owners who currently have a Basic Template website and need to learn the basics of editing and content management.  This includes how to create and edit pages, news items, events, people and more.  It's a great refresher for those who have trained in the past and would like to review the system and have questions answered.  Graduate students and student assistants are welcome to attend, as well as new hires who will be responsible for editing content on your website. Currently all classes are on ZOOM.

CFAES Department Websites

This training is designed for content owners who currently have a CFAES Department website and need to learn the basics of editing and content management and how the Department websites work.  This includes how to create and edit pages, news items, events, people and more.  It's a great refresher for those who have trained in the past and would like to review the system and have questions answered.  Graduate students and student assistants are welcome to attend, as well as new hires, who will be responsible for editing content on your website.

Extension County Website Training

Extension County Websites are now based on the Drupal Content Management System. They have a structure and use content types that are unique to these sites. This training is open to new Extension employees, those who will be taking over website responsibilities for their counties, or those who would like a refresher.  This training will cover the basics editing and content management, including how to create and edit pages, news items, events, people and the general guidelines for content placement.  It is required that anyone who will be editing or adding to websites attend a training session before they are granted access.

Google Analytics

Do you want to know more about visitors to your website and how your content is performing? Google Analytics is the industry standard for tracking, analyzing, and reporting site data. Knowing how to use Google Analytics correctly will help you measure site traffic and activity on your website.

Enrollment Information

Each month there are two trainings for Basic Template Sites, a training for Extension County Sites, CFAES Department Websites and Google Analytics. If you are interested in attending one of the training sessions, please email Bonnie Scranton at scranton.9@osu.edu and include the training session you would like to attend and the website(s) you will be editing after training. Please see a list of classes below, sorted by type and sorted by date.

Greetings: I write to share important information about how the work from home and building closures is going to change how I am able to do Drupal training sessions for those who need access or a refresher on how to deploy content to their CFAES (including Extension County) websites. Our policy is to require users attend a training session before giving them access to our websites to make updates. The Drupal platform is large and complex, like many enterprise organizations we have our own distribution of it that allows limited access for maintaining content and every one of these distributions is different. Our training is meant to show users our system and how to maintain it. Users come to us with varying degrees of experience, but all are required to attend a training session.  Starting now and until we can return to using our campus buildings, I will use Zoom to teach the Drupal training sessions. This will allow you access to training from your work at home station. You will need your computer and internet access. Thank you for helping to keep our websites updated. OSU keep working.
